This month, we’re shining the spotlight on someone who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes – our brilliant Property Administrator, Nicole Mollon.
Nicole joined 1Let in 2021 after relocating back to her hometown of Edinburgh, bringing with her four years of lettings experience from the fast-paced London market. From the moment she arrived, she impressed us all with her calm presence, sharp attention to detail, and unwavering support for the team.
After taking time off in 2023 to welcome her daughter, Emily, Nicole returned to 1Let in October 2024 - and it’s safe to say we were thrilled to have her back. Over the past ten months, she’s quietly slipped back into her role, making everything from admin processes to client communication look effortless.
Nicole is the kind of person who approaches challenges with quiet confidence, and her ability to stay cool under pressure makes her a true asset to the team. Whether she’s coordinating safety checks, solving finance problems behind the scenes, or juggling the never-ending stream of inbox tasks, she handles it all with grace and good humour.
Outside of work, Nicole’s creativity really shines - she loves making clothes in her spare time, a hobby that reflects her eye for detail and personal flair. Whether she’s hand-crafting a new outfit or keeping the office organised, Nicole brings the same thoughtfulness and precision to everything she does. We recently caught up with her to learn more about life at 1Let, motherhood, and why sewing is her happy place.
What’s your favourite part of the day in the office?
Every morning, I turn on my computer and there is a new desktop background (thank you Windows Spotlight). Tahlia and I guess where in the world the photo was taken to test ourselves. It’s stupid but sets my day off on the right note every time.
Favourite part of the day?
Hearing about Ken’s latest hobby – it often changes weekly.
Secret to staying calm under pressure?
Working in a company where I always feel supported makes a huge difference.
Best tip for balancing work and parenting?
Being a parent has made me more intentional with my time. I always feel spread a bit thin but making quality time to spend with Emily is my priority now, and then additionally as much time as I can spend with my partner, family & friends around that! I’ve also learnt that there’s nothing a bit of fresh air can’t fix. When in doubt, go outside!
How did you get into making clothes? What’s your favourite thing you’ve made?
I was walking home from work in 2019 and went into Argos on a whim and bought their cheapest sewing machine (the machine I still use). Sewing was a skill that always fascinated me, and I haven’t looked back! I love that it’s a hobby you can never “master” – there will always be more to learn. My favourite thing I’ve ever made is swimwear – something I never thought was possible and now I thankfully never have to try on swimsuits in awkward high-street changing rooms ever again.
If you could make an outfit for anyone - real or fictional - who would it be, and what would it look like?
I’m an inherently selfish sewist (it’s so much easier to know your own measurements/ body-type) but I would love to make fancy dress costumes for Emily as she grows up – especially World Book Day 😊
Favourite Edinburgh spots?
Local to me - I love L’Angelou for baguettes & pastries and Figgate Park for a trip to the ducks and the playpark. The Cocktail Geeks is a great novelty place for a drink too with their constantly changing themes.
Most memorable trip?
SO many but our first holiday with our daughter to Annecy in France was the perfect summer trip – beautiful town & gorgeous lakeside to pass the days swimming, hiking & eating baguettes.
Next travel dream?
I would love to go road-tripping around Colorado one day.
Nicole brings the same thoughtfulness and precision to her work as she does to her hobbies, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on the team.
