Say hello to George, one of our Lettings Negotiators, who joined the 1Let team in June 2025 - and wasted absolutely no time making Edinburgh feel like home.
In an office that’s always buzzing with energy and conversation, George is our rock – calm, thoughtful, and endlessly kind. Always happy to help, he’s a reassuring presence in the office. When he pairs one of his staple polo shirts with his work lanyard, we jokingly refer to him as DCI Horsman - and we’re still waiting for him to crack a case!
Originally from Dundee, George moved to the capital after graduating with a BSc in Sociology from Abertay University in 2025. His degree sharpened his people skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities - all of which come in very handy in the fast-moving world of lettings.
Before university, however, George’s life looked a little different…
From Alpine slopes to Edinburgh streets
George spent two years living and working in Austria’s outdoor industry, splitting his time between white-water rafting and skiing. One of his proudest (and bravest) moments? Taking part in a synchronised ski demo show after only learning to ski the season before - an achievement made slightly more interesting by the fact his boss had brought out the schnapps beforehand!
That time abroad gave George a real love of adventure, but also helped him build confidence, adaptability, and strong teamwork skills - qualities that have already made him a great fit for the 1Let team.
Life in Edinburgh
George loves that his role allows him to work within - and learn about - such a beautiful city. From exploring new neighbourhoods to cycling around unfamiliar corners of Edinburgh, he’s quickly getting to know the city inside out and already feels settled in the capital.
When he’s not at work, George enjoys a mix of outdoor adventures and cosy downtime. He’s a big fan of hillwalking, skiing, gaming, cooking, and - most importantly - a good pub quiz. (Ideal prep includes cooking with his partner, Kelsey, in their tiny kitchen before heading out with friends.)
He’s also trying to get into the habit of running before work… though Edinburgh’s dark, gloomy mornings aren’t always the most motivating.
Quick facts you didn’t know you needed
- George once memorised the capital cities of every country in the world as a dissertation procrastination tactic - and simply kept going.
- His perfect day includes great coffee, a hearty breakfast, a long bike ride exploring somewhere new, lunch with Kelsey, and a pub quiz to round things off.
- If he could instantly master one new skill, it would be drawing or painting - something creative, therapeutic, and deeply satisfying.
Calm, thoughtful, and quietly curious, George brings a great energy to the team and is keen to keep learning as he builds his career in lettings. We’re delighted to have him at 1Let and can’t wait to see where his Edinburgh (and property) journey takes him next.
